Its been a while since i did my tran filter.(2000 1500 4x4) But i never had to mess with the exhaust. The only problem i had was with the shift cable bracket bolts. What i ended up doing was to bent the bracket a bit with a cresent wrench to get the pan to clear. Then after i was done i bent it back. Never had any problems since.

Try PB Blaster rust penetrant on the exhaust bolts. Spray it on, let it sit for 10 minutes, hit it for a few seconds with the impact and spray it again. Keep that up until the penetrant works it's way up the threads.

You can get it at most auto parts stores:

http://www.amazon.com/Blaster-16PB-Penetra...ef=pd_sbs_auto3

what troubles me on the exhaust there is 6 bolts break any off boy oh boy, i spray em no good.

I did this on my 06 deep pan. I didnt remove any exhaust stuff, although it was tight. And these torx bolt shift cable braket bending techniques i dont get. I was able to reach up there and take em out. :jester:

Maybe a 2006 is a little different then a 2000 with the deep pan? In my case with the tools i had i couldn't get a good angle on the bolts. Also the bolts were super tight, so rather then risk stripping the bolts i took the easier way out.

I removed my front drive shaft from the front diff and moved it out of the way and I was able to get my big arms up in there and remove the torq bolts. One bolt I had to use a hammer and chisel to get it to turn. I replaced them with standard head bolts so the next time they will be easier to remove.

Here's Nick's write-up.

Why didn't you just pull down the front driveshaft? It is easy to do and gives you a bunch more room.
