Got my 2002 at the very end of April and have 10,500 miles on it right now. No problems yet other than having a seat belt replaced (still didnt fix the problem). As for how many miles is too many, it depends. If I am buying a used vehicle I dont really like anything over 25,000-30,000 miles a year. But it doesnt really matter how many miles I put on my own.

02 Sil Z71 with 5.3, 23,000 miles just went over my first year with it. No problems here. Happy as can be with it, smile every time I get in and drive to work, especially now in the winter, (heated seats rule) :thumb:

Just getting ready to do my second oil change too, was going to install the Fram Suredrain, anyone use it yet? Opinions?

Oh I really need to change my incab filter, the tech article ROCKS, thanks guys. As does all the other articles.

I have had my '01 Silverado for one year and four months now and I am at about 11,500 miles, all city driving...so that is alot of miles considering my farthest trip has been about 50 miles.  On average I do about 250 miles in 10 days, and my longest trips are about 6 miles...going to school and work racks up miles.

Don't have too much to complain about other then I think my window motors are going and my cd player is acting weird, but will hopefully fix that over winter break...

'99 Sierra, bought as a '99 leftover in Feb of 2000.  The only problems with it are the ones that were fixed under warrenty (Brakes -all 4 corners, seatbelts, steering shaft, console, and glovebox).  Just turned over 46K miles.  No complaints.  Absolutely love the truck!

"Too many miles" all depends on the maintainence that was performed.  Read in "GMC Directions" where a guy in Pennsylvania (I think) had a fleet of '88-'90 Sierras with about 800 to 900,000 miles.  Swapped out engines about 3 times but got around 300K because of relentless service and fine quality of the truck.  If you're going to buy a used vehicle ask to see the maintainence schedule or be prepared to pay consequences.

00 Silverado (built april 00 = 31 months)

Almost 32K miles

'99 Silverado (built May of '99) a little over 38,000 miles.

A few knit-picky things on it, but I've had more problems caused by the dealer than from the truck.  They always seemed to break, damage, or improperly fix something I took it in for, which resulted in more trips to get things fixed or replaced.   :jester:

"00" Sierra, bought used with 11,000 miles back in July 01.  Currently have just over 32,000.  Just put little over 6,000 driving from Anchorage, Alaska to Washington D.C.  Any problems where just recalled items.

99 Sierra and hit 24,547 this morning.  Took it in for a couple of recall items and getting ready to have the drivers side mirror looked at as it shakes like an alky at highway speeds.

Love the truck...had a few minor warranty things...(steering gear bushing, steering rack, battery, tailgate strap, and a leak in the cab), wife got hit in it too.  Overall - - very pleased with what I have.

Contrast:  I strayed after many loyal years with GM and bought a 99 Dodge quad cab.  18 months of paper blizzard and a lawsuit later...Chrysler bought back a lemon.

Still love the truck, which is uncommon for me. Usually I get bored with something pretty quickly and get tired of stuff. Not this truck. The only things I needed fixed were TSB things and a power window. And the driver's side mirror got into an arguement with a tree and lost. That was the fault of the driver being a pinhead, though! I love the power of that 5.3L. Taking it up a pretty long, steep hill in which pretty much every one else has to downshift on to keep their speed ( 65-70mph) and I just loaf along at less than 2000RPM's and keep my speed.

2nd generation now in the '99+ styles.  Sent back my '99 1/2 ton leaser w/ 50,500 on it.  Had most of the "systemic" problems reported for the '99s (minus a steady CSK - the vast majority fixed under warranty), but despite that, I loved it.

Now on my '03, arrival blue, and 3290 miles.  As good as the '99 was, this one is better - everything is tight, solid, quiet, and so far has been flawless.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody.  :thumb:  :jester:

From an engine standpoint, I'd think you should easily get 150,000 to 200,000 miles (sorry didn't translate to metric).  As for tranny, and other components, who knows??
