Torsion Bars Normal?

  1. Hi again Folks. I have two questions actually. First, I crawled under the truck to have a gander at the TB "keys and I noticed the ends dont fit "square" in the sockets (on either end). Imagine a snap on wrench and a soft bolt...twist the wrench a bit too far. Is this ok or does it sound like the bars are starting to "spin out"? My second question is ,i,m as concerened with rear spring rate as well as hieght and i,m considering rear springs from a 2500 ..will they fit? and has anyone tried this to know how much rise it would give the truck? BTW..the HP engine advice was fantastic,,,just havnt decided if i,mm going HP 5.3 or 6.0 yet....Thanks for the advice

To your first question...I think your torsion bars are "normal", mine have looked like that from day one along with every other torsion bar set up I've seen/worked on. As to your second question, I have no idea, sorry, however I know there has been discussions about this here somewhere. I'd look around in the suspension section your bound to find something.

Thanks for the reassurance,,I remember back in my day on chrysler products,,,the torsion bars would spin out,,leaving you looking like a "prostocker"..lol....in fact I drove a 67 dodge coronet home from Atco raceway like that. Apparently hittng the RR tracks at 120 plus was a bad idea....lmao

Yeah, hitting RR tracks at any kind of speed will end up doing something. :D My latest stupidity was while mudding & driving over, what I thought, was a pile of dirt. It ended up being a buried stump. My driver side, side step caught that & well, I don't have side steps right now is the result... :)
