Will I Loose Torque ?

I have a question ..

It is my understanding torque is directly related to tire size.. So If I was to go from stock wheels to 33's, I will loose torque on the ground ..

Now my question is, if I do the math on gears and tire diameter, ( which I don't know how to calculate yet ) Can I re-gear and get the the torque back ? and once I do, is it the actually the same amount of power ?

I guess lets say have 3.42's 6spd with stock tires, the 5.3 has lets say 320 ft/lbs of torque ?

Now can I re-gear my final drive ratio to get it back to 320 ft/lbs of torque with 33's , and if I do, will the truck theoretically be just as fast ? Or will it always seem slower with the larger wheels ?

Or would it be exactly as fas IF and only IF the larger tires weigh the exact same as the stock tires ? which I'm assuming isn't avalible ..

Yes,... and yes.... You can regear to get back what you've lost. IF your going to do it, I'd consider 4.10's to justify the cost for the swap.

You will always have "320 lb/ft" of torque. However, with the larger tire, due to diameter and weight, it will take more effort to move the vehicle. So to get the acceleration back to how it was stock, you will need to re-gear like Stevens said.

Yeah, My answer was a little short, but frdfandc is correct. IF you want it back to near stock, then 3.73's would work just fine, but for the cost, you might as well go for a little extra gear, especially if you ever decide to upscale again. I can tell you from my own experiences, that once you start going bigger it's an addiction. You just keep going bigger so you might as well have enough gear for future mods too

Yeah, My answer was a little short, but frdfandc is correct. IF you want it back to near stock, then 3.73's would work just fine, but for the cost, you might as well go for a little extra gear, especially if you ever decide to upscale again. I can tell you from my own experiences, that once you start going bigger it's an addiction. You just keep going bigger so you might as well have enough gear for future mods too
