Double Din W/bluetooth Quality

I am considering replacing the stock Bose headunit in my 06 Silverado with one that has handsfree bluetooth calling capability. I also want to be able to use the song library from an iphone.

Is there a difference in call quality between manufacturers/price points with the different units? (I am assuming there is)

I don't want to bother if the sound quality for me or the other end of the call is going to suck. Right now, I haven't found a bluetooth earpiece that doesn't offend the other caller while I'm driving. My truck isn't loud, but it is a little more agressive than stock (Silverline 4" turbo back with muffler). I think it is more road noise than anything else, exhaust noise is only an issue when I jump on it.

I don't need nav or DVD.

I just installed a Clarion CX501. Bluetooth telephone and A2DP streaming audio. No DVD, no touchscreen, just a great (and inexpensive) interface. Easy to operate day or night.

In my experience with Bluetooth head units, it is best to stay away with the ones that say "built in bluetooth" I would go with the models that have an add on bluetooth interface with a wired mic. For instance the Kenwood DVD players require the KCA-BT300. In my experience these give you much better call clarity and reduce background noise for those that you are talking to.

Also, devices such as Parrot are really good but do not integrate well with your aftermarket head unit.

One of the things that appealed to me about the OGM-1 was that the bluetooth module is built in BUT it is made by Parrot. Kudos to advent for not thinking they could do as good a job as a company that specializes in it. BT is very touchy and you really have to know what you are doing and not just "wing it". Having my contacts sync automatically is also a really nice feature which, again, parrot has been doing for years and has it down.

It works well although I am having trouble with dropped connection with my new Android phone but I think it is the phone to blame here since my previous phone never gave me any trouble.

I've had the best luck with Pioneer and Kenwood ... I am running Kenwood now ... absolutely no complaints ...
