2007 Evap Solenoid Question

What a great site!!! I have a 4.8L 2007 sierra extended cab and have read all about the codes and questions on the evap system.My question is: Is the extra hose and little filter box that mounts near the rear of the transmission necessary for the cannister and what exact replacement part number would work in my GMC??I would really rather not pay the $133.50 fee for this simple fix and of course the dealer says otherwise.I'll never squeeze that extra dollar in again...lol. THANKS!!

Remember there is the $30 evap. solenoid replacement part for the

original stock location and then there is the $133? relocation kit with

solenoid for the updated fix.

 

Read that link and get the original location $30 solenoid and replace it

yourself.........................

Go to rockauto.com put in your truck info and the gm and acdelco part number will show up, then call your local chevy dealer and get a price for that part number. I got a vent solinoid for my 06 Tahoe for 35 bucks. It is just the replacement part. The origanal lasted 80000 miles so 35 bucks every 80000 miles will work for me. Good luck.

I found the relocation kit for my 2008 Sierra on eBay for $85 delivered to my door. Came from a dealership in Florida.

 

Called two dealerships around me in VA, one wanted ~$250 and two others wanted ~$150 for the relocation kit. It DEFINITELY pays to shop for this part.

I went to O'Riellys this weekend and bought the $23, 2006 Suburban part for my 07 classic 4.8, and it cleared the code, If this lasts half as long as the original I will be thrilled!
