Trifecta Tune On An 09 5.3?

is anyone using trifecta for their tune? my buddy has one on his cobalt ss turbo and it made massive amounts of power, his buddy with a g8 made some good power with it as well and it firmed up his tranny shifts quite a bit. i looked through google but didnt see if anyone had used them for a tune and what their results were. i know a lot of guys say to use black bear but ive got a chance to get this tune for a very good price and would prefer to save a few bucks if people have had good results with it. truck is an 09 sierra 5.3 6spd

i had a 09 cobalt ss turbo and i had that tune . i was goin to do it in my 08 chevy 1500 but i went with edge. but id would deff try it dude vince is a real good tunner .

Thanks fellas. I haven't heard a single bad thing about Vince. I guess ill be one of the first to see how it goes. Ill try to have her tuned by the weekend and ill report back with the butt dyno results

im just waiting to hear back from him to send him my money and get my tune shipped out. hoping to have it on the truck this weekend. my buddy has a cobalt ss turbo as well and he loves it, hes the one thats helping me with the deal through vince, i love the hidden features his car has. obviously those wont be available in the truck but still some cool features.

little update for you guys. the tune went on last night, it was raining so we didnt get to play much but she happily hits second and roasts the tires through a good bit of it through second gear. driving around in it today, this tune is great. she pulls like a monster to 60 mph, even up to 100 she still fairly strong, didnt go over that, wasnt feeling that brave, lol. shifting is great, shifts nice and firm when on the throttle. around town driving, she feels a lot zippier, that sounds like a sissy word, but picture your truck and remove about 3000 pounds from it, thats how she feels around town. around 1500 rpm she just takes off at very little throttle. shifting around town has been improved as well, shifts quicker and firmer. down shifts are nice too, lay your foot into her and she kicks down in a hurry and moves, and i was impressed with how fast it down geared around town compared to before. all in all im very impressed. vince is great to deal with and offers tune adjustments and data logging which is included in the price. i asked him to adjust my tune a little, i want it to shift a little quicker around town and a good bit quicker from first to second. with the 6 speed tranny i find first to be a little short and there have been a few times where i needed it in first gear while getting on the gas and its either gone into second or was on its way to second. the revised tune is at my buddies place already so its just a matter of getting over there and tossing it on. all in all im more than happy with this tune and its well worth the money. so happy my first 1/4 tank of 89 lasted me a whole 74 miles. lol. also he said if i ran high test she'd be even quicker, im happy with 89, 91 is too expensive with how thirsty this thing is. i still love the around town power, torque increase has been fantastic.

When it dries up outside, you got to play with it again and give us another run down!

update on the second day, she pulls much much harder in dry weather than she did in the rain, im not sure if she hadnt taken to the 89 yet or if the moisture caused a light power loss. but man oh man the torque is fantastic in this thing now. pulls hard to 60 mph, fairly traction limited, id look back a few times and see 2 strips laid through the entire intersection and im sitting on a nice set of at tires. i had the tuner re do the tranny tune for me, i wanted my 1-2 to be faster because first is so short with the 6 speed. he did, its much faster and firmer now than on the old tune, and with the new tranny tune its almost violent how hard she takes second when im on the throttle. feels almost as nice as my buddies built tranny in his old chev did when it hits second. if she made a bit more power i bet she'd bark going into second in the dry. like i said above the downgear is fast and crisp too. and the smoothness of the power just blows me away, the truck feels like it had a potatoe in the exhaust thats now been removed, it feels to get up and go a lot less effortlessly. the only downside is i cant keep my damn foot out of it and im getting about 80 miles to the top 1/4 tank of gas, lol.

just a little update. the truck is running great, pulls great, shifts great, no complaints from me. with regular doses of right foot goodness im getting 15 mpg from her, with driving like an old lady i get 16.5 mpg. thats with winter blend fuel and were entering our winter right now. ill do a tune up on the truck when i change over to synthetic oil in the next little while and see what that does for me. but she gets better mileage with me flogging it then it was pre tune in the summer months

The other nice thing about Trifecta is that they have guys across the USA and Canada that you can take your vehicle into to have the tune done.. Or you can contact Trifecta directly and have them send out a tune like you did..They have the same type of program as BB.

 

I'm taking my truck to the Trifecta tuner in Salt lake city after the first of the year for my tune.

right on man, you wont regret it. i love the tune for sure. i took a buddy of mine for a blast in the truck the other day to let him feel the tranny and he was blown away by how hard it shifted, hes had a few cars with built trannies, some for drag racing, some for towing. they all shifted very hard, this was very comparable while i was on the gas hard. even around town its firm and quick to get into the next gear but not obnoxious
