GMT-800 Shift Boot Replacemen

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently discovered that my 2k Silvy had the Tow/Haul button issue. Last week I pulled apart the column and soldered the two little wires in the orange insulation. I also discovered that the little shifter boot on the column was completely ripped out. I got a new one from the local Chevrolet dealer yesterday, but I'm curious how to install it. While I had the column part I noticed that there is a torx head screw at the base of the shifter, but I couldn't get it lose. You think I could just slip the new one over the top, or will it rip?

I sprayed the shifter with a lot of soapy water and the boot slipped right over it.

I changed mine when I put a new shifter on for the wire issue. My torx screw came right out quite easily. However I slid the new boot over the cable end to install it.
