99 'Burb - Hard Start and High Initial Idle

I hope someone can help me troubleshoot this.

 

I was in the hospital for a couple of months, and during that time the 'Burb sat most of the time. When we starting driving it again, she didn't want to start even though I put a new battery in and cleaned up the cables in May. Long story short... we took it to a trusted shop and he traced the drain to the factory cd player. The battery, alternator, etc all tested out fine.

 

Since that time, we've developed a very hard start issue. It will start, but the starter is turning very slowly. When it fires, the idle speed is up around 1200 rpm for a few seconds before settling back down.

 

This is my wife's primary mode of transportation, and I'm stuck in a wheelchair. Please... somebody give me some good advice here!
