The Problem:

After the truck sits over night or for a day or 2 it becomes very difficult to start. It will turn over and crank just fine but it will never start in the morning without fighting with it. You can smell fuel after a few attempts like it flooding. Once it starts the exhaust is very smokey and it run rough for a few seconds then for the rest of the day it runs fine and starts up without a problem. It is only an issue when it sits overnight.

The mechanics checked the fuel pressure and said it was to spec

No Codes or check engine lights

Prior to the problem the following was done: (2 or 3 weeks before)

-fuel pump

-fuel sending unit

-battery

-Seafoam in gas and vacuum line (just prior to the beginning of hard start problem.

Attempts to try to solve the problem

-fuel filter

-spark plugs

-fuel pump relay

-distributor rotor and cap

-crankshaft position sensor

-coolant temperature sensor

I just finished converting the old spider fuel injectors to the upgraded multi port fuel injection with a new pressure regulator. Started fine right after the swap but after sitting overnight similar problems returned and new issues presented themselves, when starting it seems to turn over and try to start quicker but upon starting it shuts right down unless i play with the throttle. It also doesn't start right up after starting the first time.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
