Removing A-pillar on driver's side with AirBag

I need to remove this piece to access the aspirator module. I have seen guides on getting to this area, but the model pictured did not have an airbag installed on this pillar.

 

Is there some precaution that I need to take before prying off this pillar?

if you want to be safe, disconnect the battery and let it sit for a few days....modern airbag systems can retain enough charge to set off for quite a long time...
