Will Any NON Bose Nav head Unit work?

Hi I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado LT 2500 HD ... Non bose and want to add the nav unit... I have NO interest in an after market nav head unit because i have no desire to ADD Bluetooth speaks, or lose functions of my stock system what so ever....

I have all steering control functions, Bluetooth, and USB options

If i find a NON bose head unit will it work? Or do i have to find a specific part number (head unit) for it to work in my vehicle. I do understand that I will need it programed..

WHAT is "unlocked" head unit mean? will this work in any truck?

BTW i have read about 30 of the 100's of NAV topics on here and its simply making my head spin... Most of the posted threads that i have read is Jibberish...

Thank you all in advance for your help.

I have similar question on my 2007 Sierra. I just bought a gm factory upgrade unit with all the wiring and gps antenna. It was a good price so I just bought it. Does it matter that I don't have Bose? The part number is 15940102. Any idea where I can find more info? I am not sure if the disk is in the unit or not...

GM navi's come in multiple flavors and generally they want the right part number for the right vehicle, along with the correct navi disc and antenna for each vehicle. There are factory navi units available from the GM accessory division that are "unlocked", meaning that they auto-configure to the vehicle in which they are installed, with no programming required.

We've sold factory navis with the following part numbers: 15882766, 15940102, 25797978, 25846421 and 25975941, and as far as I'm aware, ALL were designed to work in Bose amplified vehicles. You may be able to track any of these down and determine which are good applications for your vehicle.

Specifically, the 15940102 part number is for a Bose vehicle ONLY and WILL NOT work on a non-Bose vehicle unless you add an outboard 4 channel amplifier. I've made it work, but it doesn't sound as good as a Bose vehicle unless you add a subwoofer of some sort, but keep in mind that no factory navi headunit has an independent subwoofer output, so you'd have to use high level inputs to a dedicated subwoofer amp.

I don't know what a non-Bose navi headunit part number would be.

I know everyone's probably getting a little tired of me suggesting the Advent OGM-1, but the reason we suggest it is because it eliminates all the crap you have to deal with getting the correct applications on the factory navi, and it does FAR more than the factory navi without losing any features of the factory system. You might want to take a look...

So I have all my speakers and sub amplified. Are you saying that this unit should work fine? It is the gm upgrade unit. Thanks for the info Ryan
