2012 Navigation Upgrade

Hey Guys,

Has anyone attempted to upgrade their 07-11 GM Truck and install the 2012 GM Hard Drive Navigation Unit? I have my 2011 Sierra Denali and would really like to learn more, or possibly pursue this upgrade to receive the added features of this unit.

My 2011 Sierra Denali appears to have different plugs on the back of the radio, compared to the new 2012 units. I am assuming maybe there is a different audio harness which ties into the actual dash harness, as all the other electronics in the dash appears to be the same, except for the radio.

I'm all ears, and wouldn't mind learning about what it takes to make this happen!

Does anyone have any input??

have you looked at the Advent OGM1 yet? search it on here ;)

from my understanding, the OEM nav will go in as long as you have Bose, but it requires a reprogram from a dealership. if you do not have Bose, then you have to purchase a GM Lockpick

Any specs on the 2012 units other than it is now a hard drive in it? Looks like the Chevy Cruze got an updated Nav system and a pretty big price cut too for that feature.

Thanks for the suggestion, I don't want to do anything but OEM though, I have heard of that Advent, however I want everything to work seemlessly and I've heard that some guys are having a few very minor bugs with the Advent...

I have had NAV in my 07 and 09 Trucks, and really like the OEM Radio, however I haven't upgraded my 11' SD yet, and just happened to notice that this new 2012 unit is different so I figured that might be neat and try to upgrade to that unit..

I don't think there is much more to it except its just something different looking...the background display is different as well.

I have done it to my 2012 and I got mine from Greg at CPS Audio Video in California for 1550.00. It comes with the adapter harness, gps antenna, usb harness (for some reason GM changed the style of plug on the radio) and I opted for a video harness for an extra 50.00. And also keep in mind that it also has an XM tuner built into it as well.

Id like to do this to my 2008 Yukon...

Is there a CPS website?

They don't have a web site you have to call them at 707-588-9300 and ask for Greg, he then will go through it all with you to get it setup. He can also add features like input's and output's for DVD monitors ect as well, just have to tell him before he programs the unit. That video harness is an extra 50.00 which is why mine was 1550.00.

i have an 08, so im guessing its not completely a direct swap...wonder where i can get the harnesses to get it working...

Greg at CPS provides all the nessesary harnesses and adaptors to get the unit hooked up.

Nope the radio is already programmed, you have to supply the vin to Greg, so when you get the radio all you have to do is remove the old radio, hook up the adaptors for the radio harness, install the GPS antenna Greg supplies, the XM antenna adaptor as the 2012 nav unit has it's own tuner built in, the harness to the onstar unit, and the radio antenna adaptor and usb cable and your set, no need for a trip to the dealer.
