Camaro1: 1980 Camaro

Camaro2:  1982-1992 Camaro

 

After school, I always see two Camaros showing off in front of everybody and yesterday they kinda went to far.  Camaro 1 was parked waiting for Camaro 2 to start and the drivers rev them like crazy.  Camaro 1 moves forward waiting for Camaro 2.  While 1 was waiting, he was power braking while 2 was peeling out backwards and forwards to turn his car around and he was in a postion to where he might hit the people walking by.  1 continues to power brake and 2 was reving hard and neurtal dropped his car.  1 gets out into the street and starts power braking again.  2 took off so fast that when he stopped, he was about an inch from hitting 1. :)   I'm just standing there watching 1 power braking.  Then 1 finally takes off and 2 smokes it after him.  Do you think these guys have lost their minds or are they just being plain stupid?  They do sh*t like that every day and they have already suffered the consequences.  Camaro 1 has already been in an accident and that guy still shows off.  The driver of Camaro 2 almost broke his engine completely because the engine was knocking big time(his daddy fixed it for him  :devil: ).  I really don't mind fast driving but these guys are stupid enough to show off with a lot of cars and people around.  Camaro 2 almost hit me once when I was crossing the street.  I walked at the right time and that b*st*rd jumped in front of me all of a sudden.  Man I wanted to beat the sh*t out of him but I let him off. :wtf:  Have you seen stuff like this before?

Sounds like a couple of kids whose mommy and daddy never tore their but up with a belt before and also gave them their cars.

 

I had a friend like that. He went thru 2 escorts, a taurus and is now on his 3rd mustang because his parents bought them all for him. And each, and ever one of the cars have not lasted him a year, except his current car. He does stupid things like power braking, slamming the car into gear all the time and just driving like an idiot. To date hes lost about 3 trannys, 2 motors, 3 clutches, and several tires and brake pads lol.

 

Sad thing is, hes 22 now and his dad will still replace any part or buy him a new vehicle. My father would knock me upside the head if I went back home one day and said hey, could you buy me a new truck? I blew the engine on mine racing.

      Its coolant disguised as oil.   TSB 20-NA-166 -  20-NA-166 1..3   "To inspect for this concern, add coolant dye to the system, run the engine through warm up, pressurize the cooling system after warming the engine to operating temperature (let the engine cool overnight) and inspect the suspect cylinder with a borescope for coolant dye evidence. At times it may be necessary to remove the head for inspection. If the head casting line is the concern, the intake port will be wet with a coolant oil mix"

      Can you sample the pooled liquid, enough to confirm it is oil?   ...That its not fuel or coolant.   Also, make sure combustion gases aren't entering the cooling system.   Simply put, either oil being pushed up past the rings (this really isn't possible), oil leaking past the head gasket, oil leaking past the valve, oil entering through the intake air path. If none of this is likely - it may not be oil.   What could be likely is the fuel injector leaking down. A puddle of gas would still smoke and rough idle. (Same cylinder has the same problem after injector replacement?)   What is the crank time first thing in the morning, when the puddle would be present? Does it seem like the high pressure fuel pump needs an extra second or two to rebuild the pressure that injector 8 may have let bleed off? Check the fuel pressure via a scanner prior to starting the engine.

      Good information!  I didn't know about the dementia aspect and asked for a general for my second knee. I'd heard that recovery room time is usually shorter with a general.   The anesthesiologist talked me out of it and I had the spinal.  Inconvenience and/or discomfort is a small price to pay for reduced risk!

      This is for those over 70 years of age contemplating joint replacement surgery involving general anesthesia. Even some 55 yrs. ago when I took my pharmacology class the dangers of developing dementia in the elderly that had general anesthesia were beginning to be recognized. Over the years there has been some refinement in the cautionary warnings, avoid general anesthesia if possible if you've had close to 10 priors, especially over the age of 70 and/or a family history of dementia. I'm not including the twilight anesthesia induced by propofol often used in cytoscopies or colonscopies. Seriously think about seeing a neurologist and undergo cognitive testing before proceeding if any of those criteria apply to you. Spinal anesthesia may be an option in some cases. I'm in the above camp and although I could use a new right knee, I get fidgety according to a prior orthopedic surgeon when the bone saw spools up or maybe it was the smell of saw blade meeting bone, anyhow I may have one general anesthesia left in me which I will pocket for now and I'm choosing mind over mobility, anyway where did I leave my damn cane!
