Greetings everyone, I am working on 2 serperate Navigation projects, and looking for some help..

Looks like you have quite a knoledgeable forum here on these Navigation topic, so I thought I would give it a try,,

First one:

Vehicle is a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV with a LUX system. I have just bought a 15800001, a CD Changer patch cable, CD changer, and a GPS Antenna. I am pretty sure this system will work just the way it is. I will have to get the TheftLock cleared at the dealer. Sound pretty accurate? (not installed yet)

Second One: This is the one I think I need the most help with!

Vehicle is my WIFES (I would never claim one of them as mine!), it is a 01 Pontiac Aztek with the 10 speaker Pioneer System, and remote steering wheel controls. i have already bought a cd changer patch cable. But I am unsure which headunit to buy. I have already confirmed its a NON-Lux. But I am unsure if I need a Headunit Navigation System with a amp built in, or one like the BOSE Systems, using an external amp.

So am I looking for a 15800000, Or one from a Pontiac Vibe.. I know she would like to retain the red backlighting found on the Vibe radios, However, if its not possible to retain this, so be it..

Any insight to this?

As you already surmised, you're probably good to go on the Envoy.

As far as the Aztek, (no offense intended - really!) I think everyone that had experience with them is trying to forget it (out of over 13,000 vehicles we've done in over 11 years, we've worked on exactly one Aztek)!

So you never worked on a Buick Rendezvous? Or a Saturn Relay? or a Pontiac Montana/SV6? or a Chevy Uplander/Venture? Or a Buick Terrazza? Or a Olds Silhouette? They are all the same vehicle. The Rendezvous and Aztek are the EXACT same vehicle, and the Mini-vans are the same vehicle, just with sliding doors. (and no, I am not kidding).

I am just trying to find out which Nav unit I need for the Aztek. Its not like the Rosen or the Advent systems are available to me. Could always do a Pioneer or something, but not what I really want, having to buy the GMOS-4/1, which always seem to fail, onstar integration, steering wheel controls.. Grr. Never thought information would be so hard to get.

Hate to say it, but with only working on 1 or 2 of each model you mentioned, (and most, if not all of them were for rear entertainment), we have little to no experience adding navi to these vehicles. Guess most owners didn't bother...
