GMPP intake and oil preferences

I have 07 vmax with a gmpp cai and I am wondering were to get a replacement filter for it. Is it a dealer item only or can I get somewhere cheaper?

Also I noticed today at autozone that I can change my oil for 20 dollars using valvoline. I usually use quaker and I am sure it more of personal preference but I am wondering what everyone else uses in their trucks.

Thanks for the help.

When I had my 07 Vmax, I got them from the dealer. They weren't that expensive as I recall.

I currently use Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic with AcDelco filter

I got my filter from the Dealer. As for oil I use Mobil 1 oil and Filter, but Valvoline, Castrol, and Royal Purple are all good oils too IMO.

Ok thanks, I will have to give them a call about the air filter.

I was looking at that valvoline oil that was on sale and noticed that it was a recycled oil, did not know they started doing that but i guess it would still have to meet any standards that new oil would have to meet or at least I would hope so.

My dad has that set up in his 2008 V-MAX. Replaced dealer filter with AEM DryFlow. It's reusable and costs just about the same......He has used Royal Purple oil from day one.

You may want to look into a replacement filter, the one the dealer gives you is NOT reusable..You'll save yourself a lot of money going with an aftermarket like the one I listed. If you are willing to go aftermarket washable/ reusable I can get the part number from the AEM filter if you want it.

I have the GMPP CAI. I bought a replacement AEM DryFlow for it.

I use Mobil1 for my oil.

The AEM Dry Flow filter that fits the GMPP CAI is # 21-2059DK

Here are the specs for that filter :

-Base Outside Diameter: 6" (152 mm)

-Flange Inside Diameter: 4" (102 mm)

-Flange Length: 1.438" (37 mm)

-Flange Type: Centered

-Height: 9.188" (233 mm)

-Top Outside Diameter: 5.125" (130 mm)

He has run this filter since the second dealer oil change. The one that came with the GMPP CAI seemed to get really clogged up and was to the point it was choking the engine.

Thanks for the advice. I just called the dealership to get a price on the gmpp filter and I cant believe they want 60 bucks for it, even gmpartsdirect wants 42. I think I will go with something like the AEM for the same cost and I will not have to replace it.
