spice322 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 i just purchased a 2001 chevy silverado ext cab with 5.3. the abs & brake lights are on. i looked in the fuse box under hood and the 60 amp abs fuse is removed and lying inside box. i plugged it back in and the trk won't start with it inserted. can someone tell me whats going on
nickvrebel Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 sounds like it has a bad ABS module, however that shouldn't stop the truck from starting. Do you hear any buzzing (electric motor) sounds with the fuse in coming from under the truck (like under the driver's seat)? If so then the ABS module is fried. If that is the case, there is good news, the module can be rebuilt. There is someone on eBay that does this service for a reasonable fee and the return of your original (so he can rebuild it).
Garrett Street Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Woah, that's interesting. Where is the ABS module located? The ABS/Brake light are both on in my truck as well. Elaborate on the fix for this please, Nickv?
