Will this work with the new 2012 2500HD? I didnt realize GM updated the nav system and the advent website only list support up to 2011. Also, where to you purchase and find an installer?

thx.

I'm sure it will, someone that will know for sure will chime in or you could send Walt with ADC Mobile a pm asking him.

I don't think GM did change it- the interior is unchanged in all 2012s. HDs just got some minor sheetmetal changes in addition to the major chassis bits.

I know its hard drive based in 2012 and updates traffic info from sat/xm but I didnt get the package just the salesmans blurb

It will work no problem. The only time it WILL NOT work is to replace a factory navi in a 2012 - the plugs are COMPLETELY different.

Well I guess that takes care of any hopes of retrofitting it. Walt, have you seen the new nav system? Any UI/feature set changes besides the HD and time shifting of the radio?

I've seen it, but haven't played with it at all - it doesn't seem much changed from the old one (at least in the places like entertainment and expandability), but I may be wrong...

Just an fyi, there was someone that posted about knowing someone who retrofitted a 2012 nav unit into a 2011 truck. They made their own harness. I'm pretty sure it was on this forum but I don't remember exactly. He said he knew someone in Cali who was selling the 2012 nav units with the harness to go into a 2011 truck for $1500. If this is true it might just be a matter of Advent creating a new harness to use the unit as a replacement for a 2012 nav.

I'll ask if that's on the horizon - my guess is that it's not, because as far as I'm aware, the only time you'd have the new plug arrangement is if you already have navi, and 99% guaranteed Advent will not waste their time to engineer a replacement for the factory navi for at least 3-4 years. I have been bugging them to revisit the the Centerpoint vehicles though, since we'll be seeing many more of these failing soon, and people will need a plug and play replacement option instead of the factory unit.

Yup greg at CPS audio video told me that they hand make the adaptors to fit the 2012 Nav unit to the 2011 and older trucks and I assume my 2012 will be the same as I have the same looking plugs as the 2011's

If you don't mind me asking, what's the total when they're all done?

They quoted me 1500.00 for the nav unit and harness.

Hmmm, that's about 50% more than what we would charge you, and we can blow away the factory unit...

PM me if you have any questions... :)
