Gurrzt Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I am a bit aways from doing this, I have a 2012 Yukon. My question is, when you change the battery, and there is no power to the vehicle (during the process) do you loose the settings for the garage door opener, auto seat settings, and the address locations in the navagation system? Thanks in advance.
ruggedlife Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 probably not, you'd have to have it disconnected for quite a while, power still surges through everything for a while with all the crap it runs, if you're quick with it you shoudl be fine
Mikeb52r Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Had the battery out of my truck for an hour and didn't loose my garage door opener setting. Lost the radio settings though. Sorry, don't have auto seat or navigation.
oldscsc Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 For vehicles whose radios lock when power is lost, you use a memory saver. It's just a 9 volt battery wired up to a cigarette lighter plug to keep your car's electronics up and running while the battery is disconnected. You could use one if you wanted, but it's not necessary.
Hoe-n-it Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I had the battery disconnected for 2 hours on my 2011. I didn't lose the garage door opener, seat memory settings or addresses in the navigation. The only thing I lost was the names on the favorites for xm radio. The channels were still there but with the xm channel number instead of the name. I just pressed each favorite "button" to tune to that channel and pressed and held the button for a few seconds to rename. Took all of 30 seconds.
Zembonez Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Swapped my battery and didn;t lose a thing. Even the radio presets were still there.
Gurrzt Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 Thank you all very much for the input, hope to return the favor
