Too many, including such "winners" as a '74 Pinto wagon and '78 Fairmont wagon. Real winners are '65 Corvair Monza 140hp 4 sp convertible, '66 Mustang fastback, '72 351C Gran Torino, '99 Z28 6sp, and '04 'Vette coupe. In retirement, we finally got it down to just the 2 vehicles it should be; wife's '09 Traverse and my '11 Silverado. With the amount of (or rather, lack thereof) mileage we drive, these two should outlast us.

I am 40 and have had 23 here is the list, I also have pictures of all of then except the citation.

1975 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme 260 v8 slow impossible to keep the windows from fogging up in bad weather.

1967 OLDSMOBILE delta 88 custom 425 v8 huge boat but fun to drive was a collector’s when I had it.

1968 Oldsmobile cutlass S 330 v8 2 speed auto fun and fast car , was an collector’s item when I got it, made it faster by build my own 455 v8 and 400 turbo 3 speed tranny in it.

1974 Oldsmobile delta 88 455 v8 boat bought to keep my 68 off winter roads ended up building the engine and putting it in the 68.

1980 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme v8 260 ran forever almost 200,000 when I sold it bought to keep the miles off 68 nice handling and looks.

1985 ford escort 4 or 5 speed wife car unbelievable mph out of first gear good gas mileage.

1982 Chevy citation bought to keep miles off 68.

1986 Subaru bought to keep miles off 68 and save gas $

1989 Dodge shadow wife’s car something always was going wrong with it first and last dodge.

1993 Chevy cavalier 5 speed bought in 93 to keep miles off 68 first newer vehicle ever owned nice car great mpg.

1993 Ford f150 5.0 v8 auto supercab 4x4 XL 8 foot box very long truck poor back seat very reliable truck rusting at 5 years old..

1992 Eagle summit wagon wife’s car good for starting family no problems.

1996 Chevy ck 1500 silverado extended cab 4x4 5.7 5speed loved this truck one of my favorites just got tired of shifting.

1998 Chevy Malibu base 2.4 nice car good power from a 4 cylinder heated/ac would always flash back and forth between recalculate and fresh air couldn’t stop it very annoying very nice riding car.

1999 Chevy Silverado LS 2500 extended cab 4x4 6.0 nice truck best interior of any truck I have owned worst mpg of any vehicle I ever owned exhaust bolts were rotting off unacceptable to me.

2002 Ford focus wife’s car ok at best I hated it but she liked it.

1998 Pontiac firebird 5.7 auto very fun and fast car t top my new toy after selling the 68 to buy our house.

2005 Chevy Malibu maxx LS 3.5 wife’s car she loved it best mpg ever and she loves hatchbacks for easy loading.

2006 Chevy Malibu LT2 3.5 nice car no problems lacking infotainment system, these 3.5 engine I think were some of the best ever made both our cars could reach close to 40 mpg on trips and have 30 plus on average this is not the same 3.5 that is in the impalas.

2007 GMC sierra SLE2 5.3 extended cab 4x4 new body very nice truck worst interior I have had in a vehicle it is like a lint magnet, otherwise it might be my favorite truck.

2008 Toyota rav4 2.4 wife’s car ok at best she is ok with it, I think it is one of the worst vehicles we have owned time will tell. Very rough ride worse than my 2500 truck mushy breaks, very touchy accelerator.

2000 Chevy Malibu bought for my daughter 3.1 LS nice car smooth ride better riding than both of the 05 and 06 Malibu’s nice visibility only one thing against it the 3.1 yes it knocks like crazy until warm GM never after all the years this engine was in service fix it unbelievable.

2011 Chevy Malibu LT2 3.6 ,6 speed auto just got it so far love it all except the 18” wheels for one these big wheels only worsen the ride and they are plastic. If this one stays reliable for me it may be one of my favorites. I believe with 16” tires this one would ride nicer than my daughters, the way it sits it is close but the 2000 is still smoother.

I am like Zembones when I was gowing up my dad had a dealership and you never knew what was going to be at our house. At one time there were 4 people in the house and we had 7 cars and trucks parked at the house? Never did figure out how that happened but we had a place to put them. Since then I have had more than I care to think about because I kick my self in the butt for getting rid of some ot them. The ones I wish I could have back are: 68 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed, 67 Camaro 6 cyl with factory air, 69 El Camino SS 454 auto, 67 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed, 68 Camaro 482 (drag car), 72 Camaro 482 (drag car). :jester:

I've slowed down for the past couple years but I haven't had nearly as many as some of the people on here

1990 Mercury Cougar - my first car total grandpa car

1997 Jeep TJ - Loved that Jeep but some old lady hit me and it rolled and got totaled out

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Luxary at it's finest that thing was loaded

2000 Jeep TJ - Bought that one on a whim at the same time I had the Grand Cherokee..I still have it to this day but it has many different parts from when I bought it

1999 Dodge 1500 4x4 - Got that one to replace the Grand and tow my TJ...Reg cab short box 4x4...loved the truck but it was nickel and diming me to death, oh and the 360 had a healthy apatite for fuel lol

2007 GMC 1500 - My current truck - I love the truck but made the mistake of going with 2WD instead of 4x4...I will never do that again...also I'm not happy with the crank windows

2006 Saturn Vue (Wife's car) was an accident waiting to happen (6 times before they totaled it) I only put my name on these as these are the one's she had since she's been with me and I drive them regulary

2011 Dodge Avenger (Wife's car) - nice little car and it's loaded

Still to come I'm looking for a small 4x4 for gas mileage I'm thinking the liberty crd

Diesel pickup to replace my current 5.3 for better towing

And a motorcycle will be in the mix somewhere.

and that's not to mention the work cars in the past 4 years I've had a 2006,2007,2008,2004 and one more but I can't remember the year...all crown vics and i'm about to get a new one

A lot of kids work for their cars... It is just now parents are more willing to cosign, so more kids have nice cars

In order:

1996 S-10 regular cab, short bed, absolutely no options, total grandpa truck. But it took an outrageous beating and never let me down.

I've had 9 cars/trucks in 24 years of driving

81 Datsun 210 Station Wagon (1st car given to me by my parents--had over 200000 miles on it)

86 S10 Blazer (1st vehicle I purchased on my own--got it a few days after graduating high school)

86 Monte Carlo (bought when I totalled the Blazer)

89 Bronco II (bought when the Monte Carlo reached 275000 miles--I put 198000 of those miles on it)

98 GMC Sierra (traded the Bronco in and got the Sierra brand new)

96 Dodge Ram (wife's truck)

01 Honda Accord (wife's car--traded the Dodge for it when our oldest daughter was born)

05 Chevy Tahoe (got the Tahoe when the Honda was totalled when someone decided to pull out in front of me)

10 GMC Sierra (got the Sierra when the 98 Sierra finally started going crazy with electrical problems)

Posted

I'll try to do this in order (I'm 28, btw):

'84 Chevy Monte Carlo CL

'92 Chevy S-10 Tahoe

'95 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS

'99 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS OZ (10th anniversary model)

'90 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST (track car)

'90 Eagle Talon TSI AWD

'94 Plymouth Laser RS

'86 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (off-road use)

'05 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

'02 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro (loved this car but couldn't keep it out of the dealership)

'08 Chevy Silverado LTZ (current)

'12 Chevy Cruze LS (current)

Out of all my previous vehicles, I really wish I still had my '90 GST and the '86 4Runner. I had more fun with those two than any of the others combined.

Maybe I should be heading for eBay or Autotrader now that I'm sturring up all those old feelings?

    • I have a 2015 Silverado and sometimes I can not get in to the truck. I use the key to unlock the driver door. Something is locking the truck when I unlock it, last night I left the truck open and this morning it was locked with the mirrors folded in. This happens while driving so it is now a safety issue. I reach down for the folding button and they open, then they close again.  Any advice, thank you,   Ed
    • Did you ever find a resolution to this? my 2019 Silverado 1500 is showing the exact same headlights issues with the exact same symptoms.  would help a ton if anyone has any advice on this or better yet a known solution..
    • Wawa and Meijer here have ethanol free (88 & 89) I use for my mower and lawn equipment.  Its not much more than reg.  I paid $3.29 a few weeks ago.
    • tl; dr I've now reached the 6th floor of hell. I'm chronicling my journey for my morning readers.   Pulling the top of the intake apart was moderately easy but it involved a lot of parts, connections, and minutae. I was preparing for the new fuel lines to arrive ("nut and bolt kit" it's called). The fuel line connections are notched and held in place by the manifold and a metal plate with a T27 screw.   It's on the back of the intake, under the firewall, with little clearance, and two hard metal fuel lines in the way. I was using Franken-tools (weird combinations of 1/4 inch ratchet with/without an extension, with a bit holder for my T27) to get in there. One of my sockets and bits fell off and has yet to emerge on the floor. I lost a second setup and that's when I almost started throwing tools. But that was the point at which I had gotten traction on the Torx head, and it promptly stripped. No more traction.   I started humming "1-877-kars-4-kids" because I was about at that point. You know what? I'm $1500 into this thing and I can make it disappear just as quickly. This isn't fun anymore. I had spent a lot of time already "tidying" around the engine bay: Fixing all the "someone's been here before!" BS. The truck has been exclusively dealer- and shop- serviced and I'm reminded of why I never let other people work on my cars unless absolutely necessary.   Speaking of dealer service. This truck has a 1" stack of records going back to 1995. I put them all in an excel spreadsheet, date/mileage/description.   The CPI spider has been replaced 4 times in 85k miles. The EGR? Another 4. Multiple, multiple O2 sensors. One Cat. 4? Sets of plugs and wires, and I swear half the stack is diagnosis paperwork for "misfire, runs rough, extended crank, dies at stoplights".   GM was producing some proper crap back then. And it was still well within the era of brittle/crappy plastic. (Windows 95 was released the same month this truck was sold new, we HAD the technology!!)   There (was) a plastic shroud around the evaporator core and HVAC fan in the engine bay. I noticed a chunk of it missing so I poked at it some more and it literally shattered. Touched it some more and pieces were crumbling off. Had a good laugh. Clearly whatever plastic garbage they were using had broken down over 30 years and was literally turning to dust. That was a good half hour of using a shop vac to remove the rest of it.   Back to it.   I was going to give up for the evening but then decided I'm already level 10 pissed off at the stripped screw: G* D* it, give me my tools back -- and my JOY. We'll do this the hard way: The whole intake is coming off.   Blazer won Round II. After finally finding and accessing the 12 intake bolts and using a pry bar to unseat it from the heads, it popped loose in an explosion of gunk and grime raining down into open ports. Awesome.   6 times I reminded myself: Be careful of the temperature sender on the front of the intake.   YEAH, I forgot again and snapped it clean off in the removal. Add another $20 to the ever-growing list of new parts this thing is consuming.   The shame is, long before removing the intake, I had changed the oil in prep for Tuesday's momentous fuel line replacement that was going to be the magic fix and I'd have a running Blazer to tool around in this next weekend. The intake removal, including raining gunk, also gushed dirty coolant all over the valley. Of course it did. Welp, there goes another $35.   I now need an intake gasket set, bolt set, coolant temp sensor, another 5 quarts of oil, some RTV. Don't worry, I've already got 3 new jugs of Dexcool and a thermostat waiting. I'll fill it with clean water first to get it running, dump it, and then add the Dex later on in case... well, let's not go there. I'm only tearing this down once, next time the truck is going on Marketplace for FREE.   Oh, and I'm going to need vacuum hose for all the stupid connections placed at the rear of the engine which have since disintegrated. Come on, GM....tell me you don't do that anymore?   Oh, and the ears on the distributor where the cap screws down are both cracked. I mean, why not put a new distributor in it too. You get a distributor, YOU get a distributor, Everyone gets a new distributor!   This truck isn't out of the woods yet...I'm already questioning how much more time I'm willing to sink in.
    • NewDude, thank you for the suggestions!    I did follow up and the dealer indicates he has an open CX case and is working with DPAC (Dealer Parts Assistance Center).   Per the dealer, GM has had a quality spill and is not providing an update for when a replacement engine will be available.
