jaybyrd Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 My 04 with the oem chrome side steps were like new when I traded the truck in. These new 6 inch with what appears to be much thinner and cheaper chrome job are pitted and look like crap. Some spots have gone right through the chrome. i.e. perforation corrosion. Question is when I take it in for my next oil change and ask for new ones under warranty will I be successful? In my mind they should not rotting through. The bumpers and everything else on the truck are still rust free and chrome intact. The old oem's side steps never had so much as a spot on them after 6 years of ownership. Will they replace them under warranty?

T750 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Just had mine replaced under the bumper to bumper warranty today. The replacement had to be authorized by the service manager and I had no issues once they saw the pitting on the top of the steps.
lbkthree Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I thought the gm accessory steps were stainless. Regardless, they are covered.
