yukon_denali_05 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 My hub bearing is bad. Lifted front left wheel and there's play. I get the growling sound at low speeds. Question is can I just replace the bearing? I have an 05 Yukon denali
00Silverado4x4 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that you have a sealed hub bearing that must be replaced as an assembly. You won't be able to replace just the bearings. It's not a hard job, do a search for hub bearing, there was a good thread here for replacement procedures. When mine went out it was pretty straight forward repair, the torque settings is the only hard part.
yukon_denali_05 Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Thanks guys. I was afraid of having to replace the assembly. Any good sources for where I can get a hub assembly at a good price?
tflessner Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I replaced one of my front hub bearings 4 years ago with a bearing ordered off of EBay, and 90,000 miles later is still working great. A fairly easy task if you get the proper directions and the right tools. Like this one here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Timken-SP500300-Front-Hub-Assembly-/200714994100?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ebb8bc1b4&vxp=mtr
