At the end of the day, A, B or C you'll be fine. A (the one that replaced the R filters) will work on non R (B) applications. You just don't want to use a non R (B) on an R (A) application. So like the 3.6 V6 LGX in the Acadia, XT5, XT6, Blazer and Camaro, or the 3.0TT V6 in the Cadillacs, you do NOT want to use what was the blue PF63 (now PF63B). You have to use the UPF63R black (now PF63A) filter due to the oil pressure those engines create on cold start that can burst a regular PF63.
Once the dust settles on the supplier changes hopefully they can clear it all up and simplify things back to how they were.
I just bought this. A minimum for me but, I don`t work anymore and don`t want the heavy update costs of the higher end tools. You would have to make money with them.

Even this tool has a $250.00 update cost after 2 years.
