I was thinking about upgrading to hid lights but was wondering if I should get the wire harness or not.

Why is the reasoning to get one? What's the purpose of it?

gives it a better power source instead, helps keep it from flickering with the drl's giving it half power. the stock wiring is obviously designed for stock bulbs, the wires are tiny and dont carry enough juice for them really

Pulls constant 12v power from the battery so you dont burn out your stock wiring.

 

I did not use one on my 06, but i didnt notice any problems of power flow.. I heard the NNBS need them

So I should get it even if I took out the drl relay? And where is a good place to get one?

just order it wherever you're getting the HID's from. i would still recommend it, i had HID's in my foglights for a while and sitting at night i could see them slightly flicker almost like dancing around. added the harness and it went away. i've since moved onto something other than HID's police in my area are cracking down on aftermarket HID lights plus they run too hot and melt housings. not worth it for me

headlights typically aren't a problem, a lot more room inside compared to our small fog lights. just be sure your headlights are aimed correctly and expect to get people flashing their lights at you for the brightness

Ok thanks for the info and I already get the flashing of lights with my silver star so I might have to aim them down some more.

You don't notice the flickering of the lights

You don't need one. I have 50w ballasts and mine are still fine. You should't use HID's for DRL's anyway so pull the two fuses. Stay around 4300k which is a stock color for 99% of OEM lights. Don't go any higher than 5000k or you'll lose significant light output only to get obnoxious color. And please properly aim them. HID's are only meant to go into housings designed for them. Fortunately the OEM housings aren't too bad for glare as long as they are aimed properly.

You don't need one. Just pull your DRL fuse and disable approach lighting through DIC. I am running my DDMs without one and no relay, not a single problem

 

 

 

+1. I used the 35w HID ballast and have no issues with flickering on my NNBS. I did disable approach lighting but did not disable my DRL. If the ballast goes bad oh well, it was cheap enough to not bother me. Lights have been in for nearly 4 months now with no issues. I'm actually pretty surprised to be perfectly honest.

Ok you think the hids would melt my headlight housing?

 

 

I do not have HID lights, however at one time I was considering them, this is what I found out.

 

Get the 35W system, and use a harness, you will not have any problems with the headlight housing melting, you will have problems with the housing melting and discoloring with the 55W system, so I would stay away from that.
