Door Ding Too Loud

I recently put a new head unit in my GMT 800 and now the door ding and low fuel warning are extremely loud. I am just curious if there is a way to disable it?

A service manual would help there - anything with OBD-II has 5 trillion light years of wiring under the dash, so you'd need to know exactly which one to cut.

My '07 annoys the crap out of me too. Especially when it does it because the hood is up, or the passenger door is open. I always yell NO SH**!!! when it does that. GM's lawyers must think we're all mindless dolts. :banghead:

go ask a service manager is my advise ,he may very well go ask the shop foreman and he may hook up a scanner and check !!

I believe, on my 06, there is a description of how to change the volume of the chime, using the buttons on the stock radio. I think there was only two settings, 'annoying' and 'not so annoying'.

You said the head unit was replaced. If it is an aftermarket unit, there should be an adapter installed to maintain the chimes, since they go thru the radio from the factory. On some of the adapters, there is a jumper that can be cut to lower the volume, but most of what I have read is from people who have wrapped it in tape to quiet it down, since after cutting the jumper it was still too loud.
