Mix and Match CAI parts?

Does anyone know if the AirAid MIT will connect to the Volant CAI box?

Wondering if is is the correct length. This Volant is still giving me fits and I am still running rich. Daniel at Volant has not been much help with this ongoing problem and has stopped replying to emails months ago.

If not, I am going to have to pony up the cash for a Cold Air Inductions system and try to get rid of this headache. Volant will not take it back for a refund even though there is a known problem. This has to be about the worst decision I made since having this truck. First and last product that I will buy with their name on it.

Ditch the Volant and put your stock airbox back in. They are known to have excellent airflow. With the addition of a MIT and good dry filter element, you should be happy.

If you don't mind me asking, what problems are you having with you CAI? I only ask because since putting my K&N CAI on my truck I have been experiencing a bogging or something at lower rpms. How do you know yours is running rich? Anyway, just trying to see if we have something similar going on to see if we may be able to help each other. Thanks.

I can see air fuel ratio through data logs...... I have a cold start problem as well where it stumbles badly like the truck is starving for fuel. It does this a few seconds then idles up like normal.

The Volant air tube is larger than others and is known to cause problems (wasn't aware of this when purchasing though). Like I said before, I have been back and forthe with "Daniel" from Volant on this and he is no help at all. Admitted there is an issue and offered no fix or anything to help.

What size is your CAI tube at the air box and throttle body???

Well the AirAid tube does not properly connect to the Volant air box due to the angle coming out of the box.......Removed that POS and installed my OEM airbox with the AirAid tube and my AFR is right back where it should be. Don't know what to do with this Volant now since I am never going to use it again or buy anything they make. Would have liked to keep it and just adjust my AFR but Volant customer service was terrible with the cold start issue I was having and unwilling to do anything even though they admitted there is some sort of problem with the CAI. For the money they charge you would think they would get these things right before selling them, unfortunately that's not the case.

I would go over to gmtruckclub dot com and put that thing in the "For Sale" section!

Good move on solving your intake problem.

I would love to get some money back out of this thing BUT I would not feel right giving someone else my headache. Still trying to deal with Volant and trying to get a refund. If not, guess I'll be stuck with it. Going to be an expensive target at the firearms range I guess.

Or the dumpster. Or you could re-cycle the plastic.

Black Bear Performance did an excellent dynotest on some intakes, and the results back up what you found out.

See their thread in the Sponsor section of this forum.
