Torsion Bar adjustment

I am asking this question here because it is only on the HD trucks.

i have a 2010 2500 HD long bed with the 6.6 Duramax.

I want to lift / level the front end of my truck.

I am being told by tire shop they can adjust the torsion bars to provide 1"-1.5" of lift in the front.

When i asked about installing keys, they said it was not needed.

Is this right?

If that is so, what is the use of the new keys?

If you crank the factory keys that much you will it will ride like crap. Aftermarket keys have the hex of the torsion bar offset or indexed differently so you can retain SOME ride quality. People think that leveling kits allow you to crank the snot out of them and still maintain the factory ride. But it won't.

That being said you can crank up factory keys and it won't be too bad. But in order I get 1.5" your ride quality is goin to suffer IMO

+100.... the factory keys will allow you to go an 1" or so.but feel like a dump truck!

Get the new keys in, pick your height, then a good alignment..and you,ll be set!

Also it doesnt hurt to get the shock extensions...

thanks.

so is it safe to say that the keys allow for less tension on the torsion bars, thus keeping a better overall ride while providing a bit of a lift?

Kind of, in a way it's really no difference. Than cranking up your own keys, you just don't have to go as tight...but like Yukon said if you do it properly, get longer shocks or get the extended mounts. What size tires you wanna run
