I'm getting new tires and I constantly get service tire system alarms and low pressure alarms. I was wondering if I should just get all new sensors and have them installed when they put on the tires? how do I know which sensors my Tahoe has? Thanks in advance.

Have you gone to the dealer and have it looked at yet? Tire pressure relearn, or test the current sensors? Before you throw any $$$ at it I'd get the system looked at first.

The sensors are the style held in by the plastic nuts. The ones with the rubber stems, last I recall don't work with the older systems, like the one in the trucks like your year.

If it is an '06 as per your signature, then I would definitely replace them if you want the light off for a long time. They are coming up on 7 years old and the internal batteries in the sensors should be getting weak and will cause you issues shortly if they haven't started to already.

No i am talking about the 04 tahoe in my signature. The 06 GMC is sold :( yeah i've had the system reset and reprogrammed before but i still get failures. Now how do i know which sensors to buy?

Yes have the shop replace all the sensors when you have the tires installed. The GM sensors operate @ 315MGH, and the shop should have a scan tool to load the new sensors into the vehicles computer. VDO makes the sensors mounted to a metal valve stem. I have never been a proponant of rubber valve stems, just dont like them.

Most TPMS are rated for 10 years on the batteries so I would definitely replace them.
