Clunk in front end

I have a 2009 Crew Cab with a 2" RC leveling kit. I am getting a noise/clunk in the front end drivers side. I don't think it is making this noise when going straight only when turned. There is one place i drive daily where the road level changes while i am turning right and it makes the noise every day. I was thinking ball joint but when I jack the front up I don't see/feel any movement. Any ideas?

I have noticed the same exact thing out of the driver side... I installed the bilstein leveling shocks and have it up 1-5/8". I believe it is my sway bar bushings as I reused the old ones. I am going to order new ones from rock auto and can let u know what I find. I did replace all upper and lower ball joints with moot so I don't think that is the problem. Ryan

Well just to muddy the waters a little more, I forgot to tell you that I replaced my sway bar bushings and no help at all. I am getting lost now. I have read about cross member bolts, does that apply to NNBS?

are you checking your balljoints by hand or with a pry bar? when ji check i make sure to jack the truck up by the lower control arm (you want the suspension loaded) and i put a pry bar under the tire and pull up while pushing the top in and check for movement.

I was doing it by hand but had a buddy suggest using a pry bar or the handle of the jack. So I think I will try that this weekend. How bad is changing the UCA? Or should I just send it to the shop?

simple if you installed your own rough country kit. and youll need a front end alignment afterwards. jack it up take the wheels off disconnect the tie rod end nut and strike with hammer to dislodge. remove strut from vehicle. remove upper ball joint nut almost all the way. strike to dislodge then remove the upper control arm bolts. You have to remove the strut because the bolts wont come out with it in the way. then just reverse to put it back together.

I have been fighting with the clunk in my front end for 30k miles and nobody can find anything loose or bad. I finally found the resolution this weekend. The brake pedal has some slop in it bounces when I hit uneven roads or bumps. I did some research and it seems the brake pedal bushing has a tendency to be bad. I called Chevy and they said it's about a $.70 part. Guess what I'm fixing this weekend.

To see if this is the same for you, put your foot under the brake pedal when you hit the areas that cause the clunk and see if it goes away!
