V Band vs Lap Band vs Band Clamp

Recommended Posts

I have to decide on which of these three to use as the connection component for the headers and y pipe I just received. I plan on putting this on soon but I won't be using the u bolt clamps that came with it.

Any suggestions?

Back in the day when I worked on exhaust all the time all we had were the u-bolt type clamps and even using a impact I never remember crushing the pipe with one. With that being said if you are so worried about it just weld it up and then you never need to worry about it. I got a 76 GMC that we welded up from the collectors to the tail pipe and it has never leaked and we even replaced the mufflers once that I remember. :jester:

I personally would use the lap band. I am going to use them on my muffler swap. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but did check the fit. They are going to seal perfectly.

the U bolt style suck. I've dealt with the ones that are supplied with the ORY from Pacesetter. To do it again I would look at the Lap Band as a good solution. A lot of people to have a good experience with the V-band style, but I'm not totally familiar with them (never held one).
