STILL WOULD LIKE REAR CAM ON OPTION WHEN NOT IN R

There are some cleaner ways to do this by cutting and splicing, but here's the easiest way to view your camera while driving on the OGM1:

Source a 1 to 2 RCA "Y" adaptorand an RCA to 3.5mm 4 conductor adaptor. You may need a 3' or 6' RCA cable as well to extend to wherever your MediaLink pod is currently located.

  • Wire the backup camera to an ignition or accessory source of 12 volts

  • Unplug your camera from the OGM1 and plug the male RCA end (from the camera) into one of the female RCA jacks of your "Y" cable.

  • Plug the "Y" connector's male RCA into the camera input (the yellow female RCA) of the OGM1.

  • Plug the the other "Y" connector female RCA's into the yellow male RCA from the 3.5mm adaptor (or to the RCA that's connected to the ring at the tip of the 3.5mm male plug)

  • Route the 3.5mm male to the same location as your MediaLink pod.

  • When you want to view your backup camera while driving, plug the 3.5mm male adaptor into the 3.5mm female jack on the MediaLink pod

  • Switch to the "A/V" source input

  • View camera while driving

Has anyone been able to get this to work? I have tried different cables and still get no video and the buzz. Is there a specific cable I should be looking for?

Thanks

I had a similar issue getting video from my WDTV into the Media Link pod. The Media Link pod was designed to connect iPhone/iPad devices and it seems Apple uses a different pinout on their cables than the rest of the world. They reverse the polarity on their video output so what's happening is you're shorting your video to ground and you get "no source found" when you select A/V. The basic purpose of the Media Link pod is to "un-reverse" the apple signal back to the standard signal polarity.

Two things I needed to do to get it to work:

- I reversed the video and ground wires on my yellow video input cable

- I cut the ground cables from the audio inputs

Here is a pic. Sorry I didn't get a pic before I soldered the yellow cable but the yellow wires are simply flipped between the center pin and ground.

And since you now reversed the video ground, you also need to cut the audio ground wires or everything will short out again.

I have not been able to get it to work. I gave up. I do not see why it would be that big of a software issue to override the reverse command in the menu. BUT I really don't know.
