5.7 pcm in my 5.0 GMC

My GMC has a pcm from a 98 tahoe 4x4 5.7L but my GMC has a vortec 5.0L, it was bought this way i didn't put it in. i'm wondering if the pcm is screwing with my 305 and causing problems and how serious of problems. I am trying to fix the truck up but i have to do it a little at a time. I would like to know if i should change the pcm back, otherwise the engine runs with no problems that i can tell. Just want the best for it.

I would guess that almost all of the sensors, injectors, ign coils.etc. would be the same given that they are the same model year. The engine will most likely start, run, and drive just fine; but, the fuel and ignition maps will not be optimized for your engine, although adequate. You will most likely get better performance and fuel economy with a PCM that is 'tuned' for your engine.

Just my $0.02.
