2011 2500 transfer case lock up

Its not in the owners manual...when you need to put a new tire on after 25 to 30 K on the rest, when you run it in 4 low, the transfer case will lock up and not let you shift out of 4 low. I am told by the dealer that once one tire is more than 3/4 inch more in diameter than the rest, this will happen. So, guys and gals, if you have one bad tire, you get to replace all four. Say thanks to the engineers at GM for this great idea....

How does your transfer case lock up because of tire size? Different size tires will affect the locking rear differential is this what you mean?

Please clarify this with a (qualified) technician, dealer or otherwise, as this sounds all kinds of wrong. If this were true as I'm reading it then you would never be able to use your spare tire as a spare.

The spare tire even though it is a 17" rim is still the same overall diameter of the other 4.

Exactly, so once you've worn your tires a bit, your spare would have too much tread according to what the dealer told zmountainman.

I WOULD NEED 6 on my truck.....

but that saleman is spreading a myth. Wants to sell you tires too.

i call BS ...unloading the (4lo) tcase in neutral and slightly moving ,they shift everytime to 4hi
