WHY !!!

 

Ok i bought a fossil blue watch back in the fall of 1999.  Great watch only cost like $90.  Well I wore it friday and noticed the battery stopped December 27th so I am reading the small manual and notice you have to send the watch in for repairs.  I go to their website and it says i have to spend $15.00 (shipping and battery charges) and wait 4-6 wks to have my watch repaired (plus i have to pay shipping to send it).  This is Horse poop. I had this happen to a guess watch a few yrs ago too.  $20 to get fixed and had to wait 6 wks to get it back WTF.  Im gonna try a local jewerly store but they wouldnt touch my guess watch cause they didnt want to be liable for anything they broke (i didnt care i just wanted it to work)

 

 

 

My cheap casio my mom got back in 98 for work has never lost time and it still works great.  It is hooked on my belt for work and sits outside every night in the cold.  It has taken many hits.

I feel your pain!  I have two REAL nice ones that cost a WHOLE #### OF A LOT!  One is an ESQ and one is a Tag Heuer (or however the f*ck it's spelled) and both are more complicated to service than any vehicle.

 

Whereas my cheapo ($50) Armitron has been going for years and years and years and looks just as nice as those more expensive ones.

went to a local jewerly store.  Gave the lady my watch walked around the store for 2 min and she said that will be $5.30.  WOOHOO Im back to ticking.  Only thing she said when i told her they wanted $15 plus shipping was the seal is broken when she took it off and when they put it back it isnt sealed quite like the factory.  She advised me not to dive to 150m that it cold hurt the watch.  It has never seen water in its 4 yrs (other than rain) so im not worried

I think the first place you went must have had a screw loose. I have a Fossil and a Guess and have never had a problem taking them anywhere.

I had 2 Guess watches, and I couldn't get anybody to replace the battery in one of mine either.  After months of trying I finally got a friend who sold watch batteries to remove the back for me, but she wouldn't put it back on, she left that to me.  Unfortunately I broke the d@mn watch trying to get it back on.     I just put the other one away when the battery went dead on it.

Sounds like you guys need to check out Lumi Nox Navy seal watches.They are the best thing I have ever put on my arm period......Gun

I have a cheap plastic 5 dollar watch thats been ticking since 99' . In fact I have it on my wrist right now  

 

Its been in fires been dropped dipped in water and all I have done is change the battery about a year and a half ago

I can vouch for those too.  They're made to military specs and are alot more affordable than the high-end watches you normally have to buy to get similar durability.   Cabela's sells them on their website.

 

Luminox watches are like the 2500HDs of the watch industry.  

 

I also like some of the cheaper and less flashy Rolex sport watches because of their perpetual movements.  No winding, no battery and no electrical components at all.

I just bought this watch a few months ago and love it.  No batteries, no winding...just the correct time, everytime.  Very heavy feeling watch as well...something I like.  Its a little expensive, but well worth every penny IMO.

in 7th grade I bought a 75 dollar Eddie Bauer(money I'd saved up) (ON SALE, MIND YOU!), and I turned it upside down on the lunch table after a few weeks and the crystal got all scratched up!!! on a LAMANATED TABLE!!! so I check into it, and it'll cost $20, plus shipping to send it to texas to get it fixed!!!! its set in my desk ever since.

 

anyone know how to get the scratches out??

I agree with shotgun, I have a SS lumi-nox and it is great.  I can't believe how well the hands illuminate in the dark..its like a green glowin light for your wrist.
