Gauge questions

I currently bought a new 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L and this is the first chevy ive ever owned, but i have noticed that the oil gauge and battery gauge needles tend to move quite a bit. On the oil gauge i notice as the truck idles it tends to be lower than when im driving, and on the battery gauge some days the needle will be below the middle point and other days its above the middle. Like i said this could be nothing to worry about but im about to lift the truck and probably void the warrenty so i just want to be sure before i do so, any comments are welcome, thanks.

It's normal for both to move, oil is the pressure and voltage is being regulated to what the system is demanding.

The oil pressure gauge should read about 40psi at idle and go up from there as RPM goes up.

 

These trucks have a system that reduces system voltage when it is not used. Therefore, you should will see a fluctuation of about 2.5V of the gauge depending how much electrical load is on the system.

 

Both of these things are perfectly normal.
