Spurshot Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I'm looking into the possibility of getting a Savanna AWD van, which I believe may be the same transfercase and front diff arrangement as the Denali trucks. First, I'd appreciate if anyone can confirm that. If the above is correct, I'm wondering if anyone has looked into or actually converted a Denali to a 2 speed 4wd transfercase-unlocking front differential arrangement out of a 4wd truck? What's involved here? My simple imagination is telling me it's not a difficult conversion. Replace the transfercase with a 4wd type, replace the front differential with an unlocking type from a 4wd truck. install wiring and controls for both. What I am oblivious to is whether there is any interface with other systems and whether this would all be "bolt-in". Any insight would be appreciated.
JrocK817 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I'm still on SilveradoSS.com once and a while. I remember this coming up once or twice.. did a quick search over there and came up with this: http://www.silverado...2wd-easy-beans/ This should help you out a bit at least..
Spurshot Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 Thanks John. That post seems to confirm some of the my thoughts, although not directly applicable to the current models. Still it shows that GM did have some commonality of fit of the diff and xfer case. Maybe some others have done the full conversion on a later model with the electric shift modules.
