Passenger reverse light not working

Recommended Posts

Well I went to replace the bulb which did not look burned out and it turns out it wasn't its something else. Guess first thing ill do is check the plug with a multimeter or test light and go from there. Any other spots to look? It's only the one side.

I left the plug out of the housing on the way to NAPA and some water and a little dirt got in the housing what is my best option? Take it off and let it dry then blow compressed air in there?

I figured I rinsed behind the tail light and under the truck earlier ill be updating tomorrow after its had time to dry.

Ironically this happened after making fun of my friends dodge ram because his tail lights don't work.

Ok had a chance to check this out. I don't see any broken wires there is a junction block behind the hitch bar off to the left. All tail lamp wires go here. Upon further research it gets corroded bad sometimes here, well anyways, I didn't spend too much time looking at it.

I haven't pulled the plugs off to look at it yet they look like they are clipped on like most electrical plugs and I didn't wanna rush and break something.

Actually I'm going to check for the ground and see if it goes to the block as well according to my Haynes manual the ground goes to ground its not shown to go to the junction. This sucks. I hate electrical trouble shooting.

I've isolated the problem to this junction block, the ground is fine if it wasn't none of the tail lamp on the right side would work they all share the same ground.

Now when I am in the mood ill see how these plugs come off the junction block I have no idea which plug is for what. I can see which plugs are for what side. Guess ill just pull them until nothing goes out and assume that's the one? Then test for power at the junction block? This is more involved than I want for a stupid reverse light..

It's entirely possible I might just leave it for the dealer to worry about when I upgrade next year.

It is the "rear tail lamp junction block" that is causing the problem.

I found 2 on the internet:

Here is a great how to on this problem:

I wide range of models are roughly the same, this problem is semi-common I guess.
