Fog Vs Driving Lights wich are more useful?

Just wondering wich you guys think are more useful, using the factory fog lights as fog lights, dim and yellow for dense fog or jacking up the wattage and aim and using them for driving lights. I live on the west coast in Canada so the truck sees both dense fog and dark deer lined ditches.

I would like to see some pics of how bright the HID fogs really are and how much they help you see in the trees and ditches? Im really struggling to decide between Stock, LED or HID.

I dont plan on running HID in my low or high beams, although i am running 65w HIR 2400 lumen phillips high beams and 65w H9 (1800 lumen high beam bulb) in the low beams. If i did hid i make sure it could go on 6hi for the backroads, as long as the close focused HID would not ruin my distance vision (may go 3500k to avoid this).

I dont really care about legality as im in BC Canada, im pretty certain cops just gave up on illegal lighting.

What do the experts think?

I live in bc. I will say this, the stock lights are very bright and the fogs help too I installed them. Now I know people get hid and what not but I see no need, to tell you the truth I have a car and my truck lights blow it away.

The fogs come on at night in the back roads and lonely highways they are more of a light addition than actual fog lights.

Why waste money and time on something that is already more than sufficient, unless you want that "custom" look that will get you high beamed occasionally?

Just an opinion not knocking the HID users.

Where I stand right now cost is a wash all ways stock being the most money, 18 bucks a bulb for stock, plus 25 for harness pigtails, 30 for hid (no pigtails needed) or 20-40 for led. I do have connectors for 9006 highbeams plus bulbs so the daddy's mod would be free but I hate the idea of having to hold it in with silicon. I don't have any lights as of yet just housings and a switch and a wire to go into the terminal block off a cobalt harness that I parted out.

Good to know the stock fog lights are useful, I have read the opposite many times.

What year do you have tapatalk won't let me see your Sig. The fogs are not the ultimate but I like them, yes, many people say they are not useful I find they do infact light the lower portion of the road when aimed properly I drive a GMT 900

I have a feeling you drive a GMT 800 and are building up something?

Either way there are a ton of guys here who know lots, I'm not a fan of modifying the stock lights on my model. But lots here do it, you'll get some great input.

I would not want silicone involved at all in a headlight housing unless it was to seal a crack. IMO

I'm gmt900, thanks for all the advice, good to hear the stockers are good. Leaning towards doing it the regular way and not hid. Maybe do Nokya yellow bulbs or something price depending.

You might want to wait for more input before making a decision where do you get the yellows for fogs?

On my 2006 the brights have a pretty wide pattern, they seem to illuminate to the sides as well as the fogs did (before I put the fogs in the bumper).

The 2011 (and probably up) use a 24 watt fog light which is useless. I did replace them with HIDs and aimed low so as not to blind oncoming drivers. I actually had someone drive the truck toward me on the road to verify. They work very well for fog and for deer "spotting".

The stock headlights both low and high beam are very good and I see no reason to change them.
