Temp switch?

Passenger side of motor between first and second plug, on the head, there's what looks to be a sensor of some type. Has a single purple wire going up to a connector near the TB. Same thing on driver side but it's between middle two plugs. Only its wire connector is mounted next to where the purge can mister hose comes up to go to whatever it goes to. Close to pcv is. Both connectors have a single green wire going in towards the middle front of the motor. Can't tell where they go from there. What am I looking at? Figured one was a temp switch but two? If so the. Why two?

The one on the pass. side controls the aux. cooling fan,does on my '95 7.4l anyway.

If I recall this correctly one should be to the gauge and the other is to the computer to tell fans when to come on (like grampadirt said)...I think.
