navigation help

hey all, the cd mechanism quit working on my OEM navigation in my 08' Silverado so i bought a replacement mechanism for it online. It came in the other day but i dont want to start tearing into it without knowing what im doing exactly. Therefore i was wondering if anyone could guide me through replacing one? Or if they had pictures of doing so?

If I were you I would check and see if the unit was still under warranty. I know on my Advent OGM-1 there is a nice big sticker on the Nav unit when out of the dash that says "Warranty Void" if you were to try to open it up. If it is no longer under warranty the best thing I have found is go to places that specialize in Nav units like an electronic store and ask to speak directly to the installer (or if at a GM shop just go talk directly to the shop foreman) seems to be the only way to get a direct answer out of someone. Salesmen will always hum and hah and try to sell you a new one. Sorry I couldnt be more help.
