Your opinion about a transaction

Ok men.. and ladies

I want your opinion on a transaction as the buyer and seller.

You agree on a price for the item and it ships USPS priority mail to the buyer, with no insurance purchased on the item. The buyer receives the item and a part of the item is damaged. The buyer informs the seller right of way and also sends the seller a picture of the damaged part. The broken part can be purchased new for an additional cost and the item will still function as it should.

As the seller what would you do once being made aware of the damaged part?

As the buyer what would you do once you received the damaged item?

Thanks,

Derek

First off as the buyer I would have spent the extra on insurance if it was something fragile/expensive. As shipper id look into better ways to package said item to avoid this in the future and fix the item for positive customer relations

Depends if the buyer did not want insurance. If I were the seller , depending on the cost of the part I might flip the bill to keep the customer happy and or offer to pay for half depending on the amount it sold for.. a lot of variables in the situation.

As seller I'd only shipped it insured, figuring that into the cost of the item.. As buyer if I refused insurance, then I'm SOL and should shut my mouth

No insurance offered by the seller but also no insurance request by the buyer $110 dollar transaction and the broken part is worth $10-20 bought new. To clarify some of the variables.

Thanks for the replies guys

For that small price of the broken part, out of good faith, I would recommend the seller cover that. Its the cost of getting fast food. It could be the difference of weather the buyer recommends people to the seller or warns people of him/her
