My truck can't be read for codes?

I took my truck to advanced auto to let them plug one of the doo hickey things into it to read it for codes...And the guy said my truck isn't even registering on the scanner like it wasn't even powering it on...what gives?

I know power should run from the OBD port to the scanner. Maybe a fuse is blown somewhere. IIRC it runs off the same thing as lighter plugs?

Cig lighter or aux 1. I don't know how they are labled in the early 800's

Cigarette lighters work cause my cb goes through that and i use the pa on my cb to harass people on a daily basis

Check fuses anyway. Those two power outlets are on different fuses, iirc. All else fails, try another scanner

Ok, well my CB works on all the cigarette lighters except the one on the far right or the passenger side, so what does that mean?

Check fuses and try a different scanner
