Alternator upgrade worth it?

On my last truck (06 silverado) I upgraded the battery to an odyssey , Did the Big 3 wiring upgrade, and Upgraded the alternator to a DC power 280 amp. When i traded the truck in i stripped it all back off..

Since I got the new truck, I have been researching and asking around opinions on upgrading the electrical system to the components I have. The one reputable source , A stereo installer said It would not make a difference on this truck if I upgraded the Alt or not since the computer is only programmed to pull X amt (I believe mine is 140amp) of power and any more, would be a waste of $...

So, what is everyones opinion here? Anyone know if it would make a difference?

I thought about just leaving the stock alt in and upgrading to 2 odyssey batteries instead. I allready have 1 odyssey batt, and would just have to get a second and upgrade the wiring.

My plans of what to run with the electrical system are Aux lighting, Aftermarket Amp , 2 -12v compressors for my on board air system.

Doesn't the AMP draw directly from the battery in most cases when your running the power? IE hooking it to the positive battery terminal. If so then it would bypass the computer's "draw" of 140amps? In which case I could see the improved alternator being worth it to keep the battery fully charged. Also, to further reinforce what you previously did, alot of the trucks with Snow-prep packages ect come from the factory with atleast 145amp alternators to help run the accessories associated with plowing so I don't believe it would hurt.

Wondering if somehow the computer is programmed to be able to pull the full amp draw from the plow prep package tho.. I know in my old truck this setup worked great. Ideally I would love to install the 280 amp alt and still have 2-odyssey batts. that way i would have all the power I need,
