2003 1500HD Sierra throwing codes after cleaning TBS

My 03 Sierra is having the codes P0220,P0120, P0300. Check engine light flashing.

I cleaned my throttle body with carb and choke clean and now the codes are coming up. Also there is quite a big of smoke coming from the exhaust. My truck is a gas job. What might be my problem?

300 is random/multiple misfire. No specific cylinder.

You should have never used carb cleaner to clean your throttle body as it is very harsh to the sensors, use Throttle body sensor safe cleaner. P0220, P0120 say bad throttle actuator. Could have been damaged with the carb cleaner. I hope you didn't spray a lot of the carb cleaner in there while the motor was running. Make sure you check your wire connections as there easy to break if you removed or moved stuff around to that throttle actuator.

What would cause the random misfires?

A P0300 can be caused by almost anything. You look at the truck wrong and can get a P0300

Possible causes for misfire:

Loose wires

Frayed Wires

Fouled Spark Plugs

Coil Packs/Electronics

Low fuel pressure

 

the list can go on but I would start there and work your way inward

clear the codes and drive it and let us know ,that is the first thing to do

 

,300 maybe from the cleaner igniting stumbling the engine ,,,surprised no MAF code

Cleared the codes and the truck still misfires and smokes.

I've cleaned my throttle with the same spray before and this has never happened.

I just did the same thing on my 2007 tahoe and now my check light is on, (don't know what codes it's throwing, going to get a reader tomorrow). Also my traction control light comes on and it says stabilatrack off

So I took my truck to the shop and my truck was hydro locked with coolant in #1 cylinder, coolant in the eng. oil. So that clears up the codes and the smoking problem.
