Third Brake Light Wiring on 2003?

There appears to be two wires on a plug that contains four total on the end where the third brake light and cargo lamps are.  A black and light blue appear to lead to a copper strip that runs beneath the stops lamps and the other two wires appear to lead to the cargo lamp.  On the brake pedal end, there is a plug with six wires..

 

I have two sets of install instructions that requires you to decide if you have a 1- or 2-wire connection to the third brake lamps.  

 

If anyone has any ideas on a 2003, let me know.

I am checking the 2000 helms manual dont know if ill be able to find it but ill look and see

only thing i found was the black wire is the ground

Tx, don't know whether this really helps you, but I know the light blue (on my '03) is for the center high-mount third brake light.  I have one on the hitch wiring harness that is there to connect (splice, although it is in a connector of some sort) your topper center high-mount light, etc.

 

Can't find any info right now on the black - it may be a ground, like Ryan said.  You can always fire up the truck, and get out the multi-meter and have someone start turning on lights, signals, etc.  My topper appears to be a 1-wire, as I use only the blue (but I haven't wired the topper to the '03 yet ) .  

 

Maybe I'm missing some info here, but GM has done a pretty poor job of providing clear wiring instructions w/ their various harnesses.

I'd follow BlueRado's advice...break out the multimeter and have someone hit the brakes & turn signals.

Okay...I think y'all got it!   I am adding the do-thingy that flashes the third brake light. Someone else asked about it and I got interested and bought one.  I will let you know how it goes today.
