This is on my Sister's truck. The dealer is telling her that the throttle body needs replaced as well as the vent soleniod but that the throttle body is not covered under the customer satisfaction compain, is that correct? The throttle position sensor is bad???

And is the vent soleniod part of this throttle body? I mean can I just get one and replace that? Oh anmd is this not covered under an emissions warranty? How long is this warranty for?

The truck has 77,000 miles on it but is just over 5 years old so the powertrain warranty has expired but isn't the emissions warranty longer?

The dealer that it was being serviced at said there is no warranty for either issue... I don't trust this answer. I have read other threads on here of other members having the same throttle body issues and the dealer not covering it. They paid and sent in the invoce to GM for reimbursement. I am just trying to get info supporting if this should be coverend or not so that she doesn't have this expense out of her pocket up front. They want 870.00 to fix the truck!

GM knows these throttle bodies are defective imo this shouldn't even be an issue.

When this problem first started showing up GM was replacing the Throttle Body. Now they are just replacing the TPS Sensor. Did your sister receive a letter from GM informing her about this possible problem and what to do if it should occur. If not print this out and take it to the dealer with the VIN# and see if the truck within special coverage. Just a reminder the dealer won't do anything if you don't have a check engine light.

She does have a SES light lit (codes are P0121 and P0449). The service writer told her that the Throttle Body had to be replaced, that they could not just replace the Throttle Position Sensor.

Also, how long is the emissions warranty on a 2008 Silverado? Should the Evap Vent Soleniod part of this?

The truck is 2 months out of warranty, time wise but is 22K mile under 100K. Shocked they just didn't take care of this under the campain (throttle body) and emission warranty for the vent soleniod.

I spoke with GM about these issues today. They did say that this truck is covered under the 10Y/120K warranty coverage for the throttle position senor issue. They have opended a case on the truck and have contacted the dealership while I was on hold.

They are now waitng to speak with the service manager at this dealershp to see what can be done to fix this issue.

Well that did not go over so well.... GM, thank you

Funny thing is the dealership that would not warranty this repair said to contact GM Customer Care to see if they will give any assistance on this. I did so on my sister's behalf. Customer Care contacted the dealership and the dealership said they would not warranty this repair under the extended coverage because the code was for P0121 (Throttle posistion sensor) NOT the P2135 (ALSO Throttle Posistion Sensor) that is under this coverage.

Customer Care got back with me and denied coverage. Whatever!

All I can say from this point is that this truck is only two months out of warranty (way under on the mileage just out because of time) and was purchased at this dealership. GM knows they have a bad part in these trucks and should stand up and fix this issue.

The part of all of this that pisses me of the most..... The dealership wanted just over $500.00 to replace the throttle body because of this issue. I pulled the throttle body off the truck cleaned it and the truck now runs great and no more codes!

%$#@ you on this one GM!!!
