New Front rotors?

Recommended Posts

I installed Napa Adaptive pads on today to eliminate the squeal in the front brakes. They stopped fine before with no problems other than noise and I had half a pad left on both sides without any real wear to the rotors. Since I replaced the pads, I cut my rotors minimally and now I have a horrible pulse in the brakes. Could I have made created an out of balance situation? I am going to take them to have them cut but if I find that I have cut them beyond the minimum, any recommendations on parts store rotors Or just go OEM?

Guess thats what I get for not leaving well enough alone!

The way rotors are made today, I usually will replace them all with brake pads. If you like the stopping power is with OEM types, grab some, other than that, store rotors are good enough for daily driving.

I am going to have them re-turned tomorrow or at least rechecked by someone that does brakes or someone other than myself. I guess that is what I get for turning them at the local craft shop myself. Not wanting the "cheapest" route just a reliable replacement that isn't an arm and a leg. The funny thing is even with the pulse it stops better with the new pads. Its 10 if I take the rotors to them. So I will start with that in the morning just wanting to get some opinions.

I'd never use turned rotors, always replace them myself... I got the napa premium rotors and adaptive pads, way better then stock

I just used some Carquest Blue rotors on my GMT-800. They worked fine. They didn't warp as fast as the OEMs. The OEM pads are the best, they can't be beat. The rotors on the other hand...I haven't had a lot of luck.

Finished. They were not cut at the same thickness. One pass, measured out the same as the other. Fixed. So FYI, Make one match the other.
