Which rear brake shoes do I need? w/ or w/out hold down pins?

How do I know which rear brake shoes I need? According to RockAuto there are two different types. One w/ hold down pins and one without hold down pins.

I haven't pulled my drums off to see if I can tell or get part numbers. Is there a way to tell by RPO code, etc?

Is there a how-two anywhere for these? The Haynes/Chilton wasn't much help.Apparently the GMT-900 rear shoes are a little different that previous years due to a single spring.

Did you ever get your other brake issues fixed. The mushy pedal? I never saw an update

Yea, it was just air in the lines after replacing the master cylinder.

My father-in-law and I bled the brakes which gave me a decent pedal and enough to get it to the dealer so they could bleed it with the tech tool and get all the air out of the system. The tech said everything looked great and that there might have been a little air in the lines or maybe in the ABS unit.

I put new Hawk pads/Powerslot rotors on about a month ago and for the first week they produced no noise. Now after driving on the interstate to work (15 miles) and getting into city traffic, I get a constant squeal from about 15 to 45 mph. It's not terribly loud but I can hear it and it doesn't happen all the time. There is no noise stopping either. I'm going to regrease the slide pins this weekend to see if that helps (I'm wondering if the Silaramic is TOO thick and not letting the pins slide as easy). The regular CRC Synthetic grease doesn't seem as thick and tacky.

I contacted Autoanything and they said they need a diagnosis from a shop before they will warranty the pad/rotors depending on which one it is.

But I digress, any way to tell which rear brake shoes I need? with or w/out the hold down pins.

Also, I don't think the caliper is sticking since it tracks straight and true and does not pull when braking. I'm going to regrease everything and see what that does.

Should I apply some of the red anti-squeal to he back of the pads or just stick with grease?
