Never the less, I still say the 350 or 454 would be better suited for that type of rig.

A Diesel in that thing is like Mustard on Eggs, Does you no good, and  is quite unnecesary.

Yeah, but will a 350 pull 20 tons as easily as that thing will?

I know my poor little TBI would just say.....nope.

Maybe if I added a wing....and some primer spots....Those add ponies, right?

General, the DT466 is one of the great motors of all time.  Used in IH trucks, tractors, and combines, it has a great track record in both performance and reliablity.

Put simply, it will blow a 350 or 454 out of the water, especially in this application.

now thats a REAL pickup

With a REAL diesel the bullet proof DT466

Back in HS, I worked at service station and had a few of these come through.

I remember doing one that had over 300k on it, and was in its 2nd truck. It was still pulling like a dentist.

Now I'm a gas man, but you can't beat that with a big stick.

He calls it a monster truck, every monster truck I have seen was a 4x4. I don't see anywhere in there that is 4x4. My mistake if there is but I didn't see anything. Nevertheless, it is pretty sweet.

Somehow I knew Jp would say something like that!

I partially beg to differ though.  It depends on what Rat motor you put into it.  It you drop in an emissions laden, wheezer motor from the late 80's to early 90's to match this truck's vintage?  Then absolutley, diesel wins hands down, no questions asked!

HOWEVER, if this guy spent as much money putting a powerplant in it as he did lifting it and built a high compression, 454 plus cube mill with a big Weiand force feeder on top, all bets are off.

Also, what you consider a "Great Motor Of All Time" and what I consider to be, are two different definitions and I will tell you, this one isn't on my list but a 454 in some variant or another is.
