Changing front struts?

So I picked up a set of Rancho shocks (take-offs) from another member here. I didn't realize when I bought them that they weren't a DIY-swap... but that's my fault. I called my tire guy this morning, and he wants $200 to swap them. Additionally, he recommends an alignment (and included it in the quote). Seriously? Is that a rip, or about right?

An alignment is definitely needed after swapping struts.

Put up for sale because you can't afford $200 to replace them?

 

Have you tried finding other places to do the replacement for you?

 

I'm sure there are better places that don't look as nice that can do just as good of a job.

 

Or keep the struts for a while until you have the funds to pay for the job to be done by someone else.

It's not about the funds so much... I just don't see the value in the upgrade, honestly. Like I said, I should have done the research before buying them...
